Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia among older people. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously affects a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. Alzheimer’s disease begins slowly and first involves the parts of the brain that control thought, memory and language. Individuals with Alzheimer’s may have trouble remembering things that happened recently or names of people they know. The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an event that raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. On October 28, 2017 members of Rho Xi Chapter raised $1,000 and participated in the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
