The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continued opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Spearheaded by Bro. Erick Powers, the Brothers of Rho Xi Chapter had the honor of volunteering at Special Olympics Soccer Team practice on May 2, 2017. The volunteers assisted with warm up exercises, taught soccer skills and provided the athletes with drinks and refreshments. From the first to the last whistle there was a sea of smiles, high fives, hugs and lots of laughs. The competitors were very enthused and engaged. Both the coaches and athletes thanked the Brothers from Rho Xi Chapter for their time, money, energy and effort.
