The mission of the Self-Help for African People through Education (S.H.A.P.E.) Community Center is to improve the quality of life for people of African descent (all people) through programs and activities, with emphasis on unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith. S.H.A.P.E. Community Center’s goals include providing programs and activities aimed at empowering youth, adults, community organizations, groups and institutions to regain control of their lives, homes and communities and to return their communities to their original greatness. Because of S.H.A.P.E. Community Center’s deep commitment to the community, on August 19, 2017 Rho Xi Chapter, combined with the Houston Area Coalition of Chapters (HACOC), donated $1,000 to S.H.A.P.E. Community Center. This donation will assist the Self-Help for African People through Education Community Center in their continuous efforts to actively seek ways to oppose injustice and to better the community for all people.
