The Real Men Read program invites male mentors to school campuses several times throughout the school year to read to classrooms. On November 18, 2016, the Stafford Elementary School Principal, Bro. Jeffery Williams, spearheaded the Real Men Read Program. Brothers from Rho Xi and other chapters in the Houston area volunteered their time and reading skills. The reading mentors choose a selection from a specific collection of books and each student received a copy of the selected book. Each session lasts approximately one hour. The Real Men Read program is a great opportunity for parents and community members to interact with students and have a positive impact on overall attitudes toward reading. The program reinforces three fundamental principles: reading is fun, the community cares and a commitment to education can ensure success.
