The Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program provides home-delivered meals to disabled adults and homebound clients over 60. The program also delivers weekend meals and a week’s worth of breakfast to over 1,100 of our most frail and isolated clients. This nutritional support helps people stay independent and in their own homes. Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston serves clients with the help of partners like Harris County Area Agency on Aging, Texas Health and Human Services Commission and Managed Care Organizations serving Southeast Texas. In conjunction with the Harris County Community Services Department, Meals on Wheels reaches out to the remote areas of Harris County, serving elders across the county. Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston also partners with organizations in Galveston, Liberty and Montgomery Counties to deliver meals. On Thursday, November 24, 2016, the morning of Thanksgiving, Rho Xi Chapter gathered with brothers of the Houston Area Coalition of Chapters, other organizations and volunteers at the YWCA in Houston, TX to collect meals and deliver them to elderly members of the community in need. The event provided food for a multitude of families throughout southern Houston, TX and surrounding areas.
