Scout Fair coupon book sales are a brilliant way for Cub Scouts to raise money. Coupon Books are easy to sell, since they only cost $10 and provide more than $600 in savings. By selling coupon books, Scouts learn life lessons by “earning their own way” and can win great prizes. Units earn thirty percent commission on each coupon book sold, and earn an additional ten percent if the unit has a booth at the Scout Fair. Rho Xi Chapter donated $450 to this worth cause. The Brothers of Rho Xi Chapter also volunteered at the Pinewood Derby Contest on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Fort Bend Church. The pinewood derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities in Cub Scouting. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a track in competition. Every Scout can design and build their own car to enter in the race. Win or lose, Scouts will take pride in having done their best. Scouts learn things that they will remember for life, such as craft skills, the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship.
