Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. knew they could be doing more in the lives of African American children and in the community at large. So, in 2009 they initiated a nationwide effort to encourage their Brothers to become Big Brothers. The fraternity has made numerous contributions to society since its founding on November 17, 1911 at Howard University and through its partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the tradition continues. As a major part of a growing coalition of volunteers and donors, Omega Psi Phi is helping Big Brothers Big Sisters make a positive impact on children who need of them most. On April 9, 2017 the Brothers of Rho Xi Chapter attended the Big Brothers Big Sisters 5th annual Big Taste of Houston, which featured some of Houston’s best restaurants and talented chefs to assist in making an impact on the children in the community. Rho Xi Chapter donated $100 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Houston. The donation will help to change the life of a child and support one-on-one mentoring in Houston and surrounding areas.
